Stuart joined the London office of Arthur Andersen in 1982 and moved as part of the team which founded the Cambridge office in 1985. He became a partner in 1992 and subsequently ran the Audit Practice for both Cambridge and St Albans offices before becoming Practice Senior Partner of the Cambridge Office in 2001. From 1999 to 2001 he sat on the Andersen Global Life Sciences Team.
He joined Deloitte in 2002 where he served as Head of European Healthcare and Life Sciences and served on the Global Industry Team for seven years between 2004 and 2011.
His partner career was spent in the Audit and Transaction Support practices of both organisations in which capacity he worked with life science businesses from start up to multinational and has been reporting accountant to a plethora of IPO and Class transactions.
As well as his work in the Life Sciences sector, Stuart reported as Audit Partner to the audit committees of publicly quoted companies for over 20 years and served as audit partner to Cambridge University for five years.
Stuart served on the Finance and Taxation Committee of the BIA for some years and is a former director of the Babraham Institute, Cambridge Network and Norwich Research Partners.
In addition to his role with BioCity he is a non-executive director at Oxford Biomedica, One Nucleus and the Cell and Gene Therapy Catatapult. He is also an Honorary Vice Chair at Cambridge Ahead.
Married with one teenage son, his interests include wine, food, rugby, cricket and theatre.
