Two Nottinghamshire companies are celebrating success following the prestigious Medilink UK Healthcare Business awards, which took place on Wednesday 25th April 2018.
The awards recognised a multitude of achievements and outstanding contributions to the Life Sciences, and seven companies from across the country were crowned as winners.
Winning companies from the regional Medilink awards, which were held throughout 2017 and early 2018, were automatically shortlisted for the national titles.
NuVision Biotherapies Ltd, a regenerative medicine company based at MediCity, won the start-up award (sponsored by HGF Intellectual Property Specialists) in recognition of delivering over 2,400 life-changing eye treatments in less than 20 months.
Dr Andy Hopkinson, CEO, NuVision Biotherapies commented;
‘We are over the moon to have been selected as a national winner for the Medilink UK Start-Up award. NuVision’s mission is to improve patient care and quality of life through the delivery of cutting edge wound care therapies, and it’s great that our achievements so far have been recognised not only by Medilink East Midlands, but also on a national scale.’
Another Nottingham-based company, Promethean Particles, was the runner-up in the Outstanding Achievement award category, which was sponsored by Morningside Pharmaceuticals. Promethean Particles design, develop and manufacture inorganic nanoparticle dispersions to their customer’s specifications and in May 2016 opened a new manufacturing plant which has facilitated company growth and job creation.
Laurie Geldenhuys, CEO, Promethean Particles commented;
‘Being selected as a runner up for the outstanding achievement award is a huge accomplishment for us and I’d like to thank the whole team for their dedication and hard work. Thanks to the new manufacturing plant we have taken on two new scientists and gained lots of new interest, and we’re very excited for the future.’
