05 Oct BioHub wins two OBN awards
BioHub, the business incubator unit at Alderley Park, is celebrating after picking up two awards at a leading life sciences industry event.
The OBN Awards 2017, run by the official UK life sciences membership organisation, celebrate the best of UK life sciences and bring together more than 250 industry leaders.
BioHub, which is operated by life science incubation specialist, BioCity Group, picked up the accolade for Best UK Life Science Incubator for the second year in a row thanks to its outstanding work as the epicentre for start up life science businesses in the North West. It also won the top award of the night, the Outstanding Achievement Award, for ‘overcoming challenges, thinking more innovatively and simply working hard to succeed’.
John Harris, CEO of OBN, said:
“We received an outstanding number of entries this year; up a staggering 120 per cent on last year, so competition was really tough. All of our winners and nominees this year are truly innovative and set a great example to the rest of the industry.”
Ned Wakeman, BioHub Director, said:
“We have worked hard to create the optimum environment for emerging businesses to thrive by offering world class laboratories and commercial office space, open access pay-as-you go scientific services, training, business support and access to investment.
“The continued successes of the businesses at the BioHub is testament to the hard work and success of every member of the community. From scientists, Expert mentors and corporate partners to those working in the operations and catering teams, it is truly a shared effort, and I am delighted to accept the award on behalf of BioHub.
“We have seen the creation of a scientific community of collaborators where experienced scientists come together and conduct world-class research. We look forward to continuing to support this work and welcoming more companies to the fold.”
